Collection: Ex-Voto Tanti

An ex-voto is a votive offering given in fulfillment of a vow and in gratitude (hence the Latin term, "from the vow made"). They are a part of ancient tradition in the Prince Islands in Turkey, especially in Büyükada (also called "Prinkipos") where Tanti's home and studio is located. People believe that the wishes they make in Aya Yorgi Church, located on the top of the island, come true and keep the ex-voto's as souvenirs. The collection represents Tanti's love and gratitude for Büyükada.
